Ideas That Seem Worth Pursuing
I\nbought MindManager in 1998, whan I went independent as a consultant.\nI'd known about the software through the 1990's as shareware, but never\nfelt able to justify buying. It was that time of the dotcom boom in the\nUK and there was a multitude of OnlineTools available free on the web.\nOne was Egroups, and it was ther that I set up the MindManager Egroup\nbefore they were became Yahoogroups.\n\nThe MindManagerYahooGroup
The\nlargest community on web devoted to MindManager MindMapping software.\nStarted by me in 1998. Now has nearly 3000 members.\n\nFind it at\n[[MindManagerYahooGroup|http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mindmanager]]
OnlineTools
Here\nI am going to list and describe some of the online tools I think are\nuseful when exploring and innovating on the\nweb.\n\n[[Furl.net|http://www.furl.net]] - a place to save and store\nnotes about web pages\n[[Surfsaver|http://www.surfsaver.com]]
The\nname came from an joining together of "Exploration" and "Innovate.\nThese two qualities seem to sum up my motivations and mindset.
MindManager\nis MindMapping software, but it can also be used for project planning,\nwebsite development, and many other applications. It is produced by the\n[[Mindjet|http://www.mindjet.com]
Here I am going to list ideas for applications for TiddlyWikis\n\nToDoLists\nProjectManagement\n

From 1998 until 2004 I worked as an independent marketing and branding consultant under the name [[Explorate]].
I\nmet Will via early [[FastCompany Magazine|http://www.fastcompany.com]]\nmeetings in London during 1998. We played with as many new technologies\nas we could find. Neither of us were techies, just curious at the\npotential the Internet was bringing about. \n\nWill, of [[The\nCustomer.co.uk|http://www.thecustomer.co.uk]] has written two\nbooks\n\n[[The E-commerce Pocketbook (The Manager Series)\n|http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1870471822/]]\n\n[[Digital\nMarketing: Using the New Technologies to Get Closer to Your\nCustomers|http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0749436646]]\n\n
Here I will write about how I plan to develop the site further, as I get used to TiddlyWiki.
My\nName is Martin Silcock. Over [[my career]], I have come to realise that\nI have an insatiable appetite for ideas and making connections between\nideas in different disciplines and fields. When this happens I am\ncompelled to pursue them. This site is a place I will use to record\npast, present and future pursuits in the hope others will be stimulated\nto follow ,and maybe become inspired to create new ideas from the\nconnections the site may help them make.\n\nMy original website was\ncreated with that great tool [[MindManager, MindMapping software]] from\n[[Mindjet|http://www.mindjet.com]]. \n\nIn 2004 I began working with\nMillward Brown [[Millward Brown|http://www.millwardbrown.com]] the\nbrand advertisng research company, however I wanted to keep my URL and\nuse if for something useful. I'd followed the development of Blogging\nand Wikis over the past few years, and could see their potential,\nespecially in a corporate setting.\n\nTiddlyWiki seemed like the ideal\ntool create a new [[Explorate]] website. A website that is easy simple\nto maintain, but rich in content, and that truly exploits the power of\nthe hyperlink.\nFor now Twiddlywiki will be my webhomepage.\n\nI came\nacross TiddlyWiki in May 2005 and was captivated by its simplicity and\npotential. It took me back to the early 2000's when I "played" with my\nfriend [[Will Rowan]] of [[The Customer.co.uk|\nhttp://www.thecustomer.com]] \n\nAs I get used to using the tool I\nintend to record my TiddlyWikiIdeas here.\n\nBest\n\nMartin Silcock \n
